Chasing The Pearl was inspired by the dragon; the oldest and most meaningful of all animals represented in Chinese art. The Chinese dragon is a revered and auspicious creature, distinct from its malevolent Western counterparts. While traditionally portrayed front-facing as a symbol of imperial prowess, it is often depicted in side profile to display its benevolent side, symbolising the protection great power wields. One of the most prominent categories of Chinese dragon painting is ‘chasing the pearl’, depicting a dragon or pair of dragons in playful pursuit of a glistening pearl. The pearl symbolises spiritual energy, wisdom, prosperity, power, immortality, thunder, and the moon, while round shapes were associated with heaven. The corners of the design feature a combination of pine, bamboo, and spring-flowering prunus; a common Song era pairing. Stylised clouds represent a kingdom at peace, and bows represent divine nature. A jade carving of a dragon chasing a pearl features in the lower right corner of the design; Jade is considered the ‘stone of heaven’, a bridge between spiritual worlds. Strategically placed cinnabar seals identify the artist and the provenance of the work while balancing the composition. Sabina Savage is noted in a traditional, calligraphy-style brush script

IN STORE PURCHASES
- Customer can return non-sale item within 7 days of purchase for exchange or store credit
- Sale merchandise purchased in store is final sale, unless otherwise noted
ONLINE PURCHASES
- Customer can return both full price and sale items within 10 days of receiving them
- Customer will be refunded for goods if 10 day requirement is met and items are in original condition and in original box or new, protective packaging
- Any sale item purchased online that is 40% off or more is eligible for exchange or store credit only
- For customers who select the “Local Delivery” or “Curbside Pickup” option, there will be a 48 hour grace period during which customer can return said items for a full refund

When will my order be shipped?
- Free ground shipping on all merchandise within the US
- Flat rate of $75 for all international shipments
- Tax only applies to in state orders (tax does not apply to shipments outside of North Carolina)

- Shipments will be sent out on the day of purchase unless ordered on a Sunday or holiday (in this case, the order will be shipped on the next business day)
